About the Ingredients:
Rhubarb
Turkey rhubarb is widely used as part of colon cleansing programmes, particularly by colonic hydrotherapists and clinics, because it contains the following active ingredients: anthraquinones, emodin, tannins, flavonoids (including rutin) and several polyphenols. Turkey rhubarb encourages bowel movement by inhibiting the smooth muscles that retain stool and stimulating the smooth muscles
that push stool through the intestine.
Barberry
Barberry has a long history of use as a folk remedy for digestive disorders, infection, indigestion, gallbladder disease and heartburn. The active ingredients in barberry are thought to be the isoquinolone alkaloids, particularly berberine. Research studies indicate that the alkaloid
berberine may fight bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections. Another alkaloid in barberry, called berberamine, is believed to help fight infections by stimulating white blood cells called macrophages.
Burdock
Burdock, also known as beggar’s button contains a broad spectrum of nutrients, including fatty acids, organic acids, phenolic acids, lignans, sesquiterpenes, tannin, mucilage and inulin (a prebiotic), along with iron, sulphur and B-vitamins.
Cayenne
It is a chilli pepper that is red in colour and is traditionally used to spice dishes. It is rich in vitamin A, C, vitamin B6, vitamin E, riboflavin, potassium and manganese. It also contains the active ingredient capsaicin, which supports healthy blood flow and healthy metabolism.
Ginger Root
Ginger is most commonly known for its effectiveness as a digestive aid. By increasing the production of digestive fluids and saliva, Ginger helps relieve indigestion, gas pains, diarrhea and stomach cramping. The primary known constituents of Ginger Root include gingerols, zingibain, bisabolenel, oleoresins, starch, essential oil (zingiberene, zingiberole, camphene, cineol, borneol), mucilage, and protein. Ginger root is also used to treat nausea related to both motion sickness and morning sickness.
Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve pain and reduce inflammation associated with arthritis, rheumatism and muscle spasms. Ginger stimulate circulation of the blood, removing toxins from the body, cleansing the bowels and kidneys, and nourishing the skin. Other uses for Ginger Root include the treatment of asthma, bronchitis and other respiratory problems by loosening and expelling phlegm from the lungs.
Fennel
It is recommended for numerous complaints related to excessive gas in the stomach and intestines, including indigestion, cramps, and bloating, as well as for colic in infants. It supports the body’s natural elimination of excess waste and toxins from the colon and to support a healthy alkaline balance. As an antispasmodic, fennel acts on the smooth muscle of the respiratory passages as well as the stomach and intestines; this is the reason that fennel preparations are used to relieve bronchial spasms. Since it relaxes bronchial passages, allowing them to open wider, it is sometimes included
in asthma, bronchitis, and cough formulas.
Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is known for its soothing and calming properties. The gel is present under the outer surface of the leaf. As well as containing 18 amino acids and vitamins (it is a vitamin B12 precursor), it may also support a lower toxic load, act as an antioxidant and support intestinal integrity and natural cleansing.
Clove Bud
Cloves are a fragrant spice. Its active constituents include a heavy volatile oil, a camphor resin, flavonoids and sterols.
Dandelion Root
Dandelion is considered to be a nutritious and valuable herb by herbalists. A rich source of vitamin A, B complex vitamins, vitamin C and vitamin D, as well as minerals such as iron, potassium, and zinc, it has traditionally been used to support healthy fluid balance in the body and as a natural helper for the stomach and digestive system. It is also thought to provide liver and gallbladder support.
